Ryan is originally from
Portland, Oregon and has been involved with swimming both as a
competitor and coach since age 10. Ryan competed for the University
of South Dakota while earning his Bachelors degree in Psychology
and Math. He went on to earn his Masters in Exercise Science while
coaching for the Vermillion vipers and the USD Coyotes. Ryan joined
IST in the summer of 2006 by way of Space City Aquatics in Houston,
Tx. Ryan and his wife Kristy live in Maple Valley with their
son Dylan and daughter Kamryn.
Since joining the Sockeye
Program, Coach Ryan has been a staff member for the PNS All Stars,
the PNS NACC team as well as serving on the PNS Techinical Planning
Committee, Age Group Committee and actively serves the PNS LSC in
multiple facets. Coach Ryan has developed and coached numerous
swimmers to top 16/10 times, Junior National-National-US
Open-Olympic Trial qualifiers as well as placing a swimmer on the
USA National Junior Team.
Age Group Coach
Tim's age group coaching experience includes three seasons with the Clinton Cudas based in Clinton, NY, where he worked with the developmental and beginning competitive swimmers, and the 2013-2014 short course season at Issaquah Swim Team, where he worked primarily with the Steelhead, Blue, and Sockeye A groups. Tim is excited to rejoin IST after completing seven season as Athletics Director and Head Coach at Overlake Golf & Country Club in Medina, WA. In addition to his age group coaching background, Tim served for two season as the Assistant Coach of Men's and Women's Swimming at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, MI, and one season as the Assistant Coach of Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving at his alma mater, Hamilton College, in Clinton, NY. Tim graduated from Hamilton with a degree in Philosophy. He also competed for the Continentals, earning 4 varsity letters and serving as Captain. Before college, Tim swam for various club teams around the country as well as his high school program.
Age Group Coach
Coach Teresa grew up in Issaquah, and after injuries kept her from gymnastics, she began swimming with IST at the age of 9. She went on to swim varsity for Issaquah High School, graduating in 2009. She then graduated from Washington State University in 2012 with a B.A. in Communication- emphasis in Broadcast Production and minor in History.
Teresa has been working in aquatics and teaching swimming since 2007. She has taught many current IST swimmers during her time at Boehm, where she specialized in teaching upper level swim lessons. After a decision to go back to school in order to teach high school Chemistry, Teresa also decided it was time to start coaching. Although this is her first coaching position, she has been a large part of the Pre-Competitive class at Boehm since 2012, drawing on her years of competitive swimming experience. She is very excited to share her love of the swim life with the team that started it all- IST!
Age Group Coach
Paola is originally from Bogota, Colombia. She attended The INCCA University graduating with a degree in Physical Education and Sport Culture and swam on the team for four years. Paola has coached in Colombia for 15 years with athletes at all levels. She lives in Issaquah and enjoys reading, swimming, playing soccer and of course spending time with her husband and daughter.
Age Group Coach
Connor grew up in Renton, Washington where he started swimming at the age of eleven for Rolling Hills. After discovering his love for the sport, Connor joined the Bellevue Club Swim Team and competed at Lindbergh High School, where he was voted team MVP his sophomore year and voted a team captain his senior year. After the conclusion of his swimming career, Connor wanted to share his love and passion for the sport of swimming with others and has been coaching ever since. Connor's coaching experiences include being the assistant coach for his alma mater, and an assistant coach for The Plateau Club. Connor is currently attending Bellevue College and aims to transfer to a 4-year university to study Exercise Science upon completion of his Associate's Degree.
Kris grew up in
Bellingham, Washington where she swam for the YMCA team and Sehome
High School. She attended Whitman College, earned a degree in
literature, and swam on the team for four years. She was team
captain in her senior year and an All-American and an NAIA national
championship competitor for four years. Kris earned a Masters
in Education from Seattle University in 1997 and has been teaching
English at Liberty High School ever since. Previous coaching
experiences include being a developmental coach for Bellevue Club,
and head coach for both Overlake Country Club and Liberty High
School. When not at the pool, Kris enjoys reading, gardening
