F.A.Q.
Where can I find answers to almost all my questions? Print
Most all questions are answered in the complete team handbook located in the Members Only area of this website. All members are STRONGLY encouraged to read the IST Handbook particularly the section regarding the ISTeamwork Program.

Why can't I get to the Members Only Area? Print
You must "Log In" to get to the Members Only area. Information such as our complete team handbook, meet entry information, member directories and other sensitive information is contained in the MEMBERS ONLY portion of our website. Every IST family is allowed access to this area, but because it contains personal contact information, it is password protected. I'm Lost, who can I call or talk to for information or assistance? Print
Your new member liason is a parent of a swimmer in your squad and can help you with particulars relating to your squad or the team in general. You can also contact any board member (see "ISTeamwork Jobs" in Members Only) or the administrative assistant. Their phone numbers can all be found in the Directory ("Members Only", "IST Members Directory")

How do I find out who to talk to about a Fundraising event or who is in charge of teamwear orders? Print
See "Members Only" "ISTeamwork Jobs" for a list of jobs and who has volunteered to do them.

How do I get information about team functions and ISTeamwork opportunities Print
Email and Website: IST Uses Email as it's primary source of communication. Information about Teamwork Opportunities, Fundraisers, Swim Meets, etc are all sent out via email. File Cabinets: At Boehm pool, upstairs against the wall near the work tables are two small file cabinets. Items such as meet ribbons, fundraiser paperwork, etc. will be placed there. Have your swimmer "check their file" on a regular basis. Bulletin Board: The bulletin board at the Boehm Pool contains some information and is updated on a regular basis.

How do I know what jobs are available to meet my ISTeamwork Commitment Print
The job matrix lists all the team functions, opportunities and a thumbnail sketch of the job descriptions. A number of swim meet jobs are listed here as well. A current list of "job openings" is always availabe on the website and e-mail messages are sent out when help is needed for an event. If you would like to volunteer for one of the jobs listed that no one else has signed up for, contact the ISTeamwork Coordinator.

How do I know what meets to attend? How do I enter my swimmer in a swim meet? Print
The Administrative Assistant will send out a notice when a swim meet is approaching and who is qualified to attend that meet. If your swimmer qualifies and is able to attend that meet, the parent uses the website to enter their "intent to swim" for the days the swimmer is able to swim in that meet (Note that there is a deadline for entering meets). The swimmer's coach then enters the events of those swimmers who signed up as being able to attend. Swimmers should consult with the coaches as to the events they will be swimming. A notice is posted that the entries have been determined so each participant can review the entries before they are submitted to the host team. Parents and swimmers need to check the entry information to make sure it is correct. IF IT IS INCORRECT, contact the Administrative Assistant as soon as possible to make corrections.

I have questions about my swimmer's progress and squad placement Print
The procedure is to address all swim-related questions to your child's coach first. If you require more assistance, you may approach Head Coach Kyle Johnson. If you are unable to resolve your concern, and only in this case, approach the board of directors regarding placement. The board will listen to your swim issue, but will refer you to the coaches for resolution if you have not done so already. General team function questions should be addressed to the board of directors. The swimmers are encouraged to talk to their coaches directly regarding any problems they may be experienceing as this builds an important relationship and fosters personal and competitive growth and self-reliance. The coaching staff decides on the squad placement based on their experience, evaluation, space availability, squad standards and consultation with the swimmer. If a swimmer feels that they are ready to move to another squad, they shoudl aproach their coach for advisement. The parent will be notified if a squad change is recommended.
