Training Schedules 101 Print
When we begin our season in September, High School swimming is already in full swing. Due to Inter-Departmental agreements between the City of Issaquah and the Issaquah School District, the City must provide practice time for Issaquah and Liberty HSs as well as time for home swim meets for Issaquah, Liberty AND Skyline HSs. High school swimming runs from mid/late August until mid February. This occupies the lap lanes for the early afternoon time that IST would normally use.

After the HS season is over, those early afternoon lap lanes revert back over to IST. This provides additional time to some training groups and to allow some squads to move into 'more desirable' water. The fly in the ointment here is that Hazen generally closes for routine maintenance for 2-4 weeks right after HS season is over causing us to have some extra schedule adjustments on top of the new schedule for this period.

The 'post-HS' schedule stays in place until Memorial Day when several impacts have to be addressed: reduced availability of water at Klahanie; National/Jr. National swimmers will spend some time at Colman Pool in West Seattle (freeing up other pool time); and coach schedule adjustments to reflect other commitments. Generally, there is one schedule from Memorial Day until the end of school and then another schedule from the end of school until the end our regular season.

We work very hard to keep the schedule as stable as possible with each of these schedule transitions as we know how very difficult it is to juggle swim practice with other activities in our busy lives.

So for the 2008-2009 season, the approximate schedule change dates are:

Schedule 1: 09/8/08- ~02/14/09 [HS Season]
Schedule 2: 02/16/09-05/23/09 [Post HS Season to Memorial Day]
Schedule 3: 05/26/09-~06/19/09 [Mem Day to End of School]
Schedule 4: ~06/22/09-07/25/09 [End of School to End of Season]

We will do our best to post these changes as far in advance as possible!!

Hope this helps everyone understand why schedule changes are unavoidable!!
