7How do I get detailed  information about meets?

No two meets are run exactly the same but usually follow a consistent pattern. Meet information is published by the host team for each meet and local meets are governed by Pacific Northwest Swimming. Official rules and information is usually made available through the PNS website and to the coaches. We then publish it on the IST website.

Another source of information is to review meet information from a previous year. Be careful to read the official information for the current year when it becomes available as meet specifics often change. By reviewing the "old" information you may be able to get an idea of some how many days the meet covers, which age group or swimming level the meet targets, what events were held and if swimmers need to meet any time standards.

Also remember that IST submits swimmer entries. This means that swimmers must submit their "intent to Swim" deadline much earlier than the deadlines published in the meet information.

How Do I Enter A Swim Meet?

  • Learn about the meet by reading the Meet Information for each meet.
  • An “Intent to swim” deadline is posted for athletes and parents to notify the team administrator of your desire to participate in the meet. Everyone wishing to swim in an upcoming meet MUST notify the team administrator. Intent to Swim registrations are collected on-line through our website at www.istsockeyes.com
  • Coaches will select each athlete’s individual and relay events for all swim meets. Individual requests and concerns should be communicated to the coach.

What happens after I submit my "intent to swim"?

  • Meet entries will be posted approximately 3 weeks before the meet and an email notice is generally sent to notify members that they are ready for review.  All members should check these entries whether planning to swim or not.
  • Any corrections, change of intent to swim or availability should be made through the coach and then the team administrative assistant. Do not depend on the coach to make changes with the team administrative assistant.
  • Meet entries are usually due to the host club 2 weeks before the meet date. No changes can be made after the entries have been sent.  A final entry list is posted to the website.
